Spanish language has always been important in my life. I began my professional career as a broadcaster at Radio Barquisimeto, Venezuela. I also was part of the Grupo Experimentación Poética, with the aim of promoting the work of Spanish-speaking poets and Latin American culture. Connecting with many people with whom I shared the language sparked my interest in teaching Spanish.

The desire to learn more about my first language led me to study at university and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Literature, a Master’s degree in Linguistics, and a Doctorate in Education Sciences. I worked for more than twenty-five years as a Spanish and Literature teacher in secondary and higher education. At the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado in Barquisimeto, I taught writing and communication skills to undergraduate students in Medicine and Nursing and to doctors and nurses who were pursuing postgraduate studies. I also worked as the Coordinator of the Languages Department.

Having a deep understanding of grammar, phonetics, semantics, and other areas of Spanish language study has made me realize the importance of language fulfilling its communicative purpose efficiently, whether orally or in writing. Developing this skill allows us to better integrate into different environments, professional or personal.
