The Spanish program in the classroom includes:

Sequential

Paso a paso

General Spanish (100 hours per level approximately)

The sequential course is a general Spanish course. All our Spanish classes involves  four communicative skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We use the common European Framework of Reference of Languages (CEFT) and its competence levels: beginners (A1, A2), intermediate (B1, B2) and advanced (C1, C2); 100 hours/level approximately.

Levels:

We evaluate your communication skills to place you as:
– Beginner
– Intermediate
– Advanced

Each level consists of 10 lessons to be completed in 100 hours, depending on the dedication and progress of the student.

We recommend two hour classes twice a week. Each level also includes cultural and conversational practices and assessments.

For the A1 no knowledge of Spanish is required (except for the conversation course). From the first day of the course, you start to speak Spanish and throughout the two modules, you learn to express needs, understand and use frequently used daily expressions, as well as simple phrases designed to satisfy immediate needs.

In level A2 courses you learn how to describe in simple terms aspects of the past and the environment, as well as issues related to immediate needs. You can establish conversations and write simple texts about aspects of daily life, travel, and biographies.

You acquire conversational skills on family matters and he is able to use communication strategies to hold conversations related to the past and the future. You can read general texts and simple literary texts, as well as write letters and essays on general aspects of daily life.

You can provide detailed information on general topics, express yourself fluently, and write long texts. You are able to use communication strategies to maintain a conversation in different contexts and situations.

The student is able to debate points of view, present arguments, and learn how to use idiomatic expressions and other types of stylistic resources that will allow him a creative use of the language.

There is no difficulty in reading contemporary Spanish and Latin American literature.

The student can understand detailed information on general topics and make inferences about the speaker’s opinions, to have  general conversations with an interlocutor on the phone or to understand the essential ideas of an oral presentation, speech, and distinguish them from complementary ideas.  The reading of accessible literary texts, whose comprehension only requires a general knowledge of the sociocultural reality, will be followed without effort.

In direct relationship with one or more interlocutors, the student will be able to participate in a conversation on general topics,  to provide detailed information, express and reason his own opinions, as well as transmit his own attitude towards the subject and the development of the conversation.

Specific interests

Con la meta clara

In the personalized plan we offer a customized option for those wishing to learn in an accelerated pace, for specific purposes.

We can customize any Spanish lessons plan according to the linguistic and communicative competence of the student.

In such cases, the student may not fit into a traditional leveled plan and requires a personalized plan to improve the weaker skills during the early phases of instruction.

Fluency and grammatical skills do not always develop at the same rate, so calm, you could have your personalized plan.

Fit-for-purpose Spanish Classes

We also offer classes for specific interests or needs. For example, linguistic needs: there are people who want to improve their writing, listening comprehension, or their intonation. Another person needs to prepare quickly because he will be traveling to a Spanish-speaking country. Maybe you have a job interview in Spanish? Other cases in which the interested party wants a complement of vocabulary and specific expressions for its work’s field.
We can fix your expectations.

Sometimes you are very good at grammar but a very bad speaker. We offer leveling in pronunciation, intonation, grammatical reinforcement, accent reduction.

Do you need to learn the oil field jargon in Spanish, have a Hispanic patient who does not speak English, or need to deal with clients who communicate exclusively in Spanish? Then this plan is for you.

Do you want to learn how to order a beer in Mexico, talk to a cab driver in Barcelona or, book accommodations in Patagonia? Then this course is for you. These classes are ideal for individual and small groups wanting to learn the commonly spoken Spanish for specific purposes

Immersion

Prácticas de ocio

Together we can create courses and workshops to practice and improve your communication skills in Spanish. Special activities include cooking classes, Spanish songs, movies review, conversational Spanish, book clubs, and Spanish theater. We propose multiple  and real activities to have fun and practice Spanish like Latin cuisine, shopping, phone calls, and more.

The taste for cooking and food unites us universally. Knowing the popular and intimate recipes of the new place you aspire to belong.

Students learn a broad vocabulary related to cooking and food: nouns, adjectives to describe tastes, smells, textures, diversity of verbs, and adverbs. They learn the variety of structures to give instructions, which in Spanish range from infinitive, impersonal, imperative sentences, or in people like you singular and plural.

Songs are cultural, linguistic, and artistic documents. They constitute a powerful resource for teaching and learning a foreign language.

Songs are textual products embedded in a melody, a harmony, and a rhythm, transferred from the song to speech. Songs immerse the student not only in the target language but culture.

The theater’s practice has many benefits, both for the native speaker and a foreign language.

Spanish students who are encouraged to do this practice become more fluent and fluent. They also acquire better pronunciation and prosodic features: intonation, rhythm, pause, speed, typical of the language they are learning.

The practice of conversation while the language learning is very important to make fluid use of the contents that are acquired. It is also very important to preserve and progress in what has already been learned from the language.

Latin music is perhaps, along with food, the most important cultural icon of the native Hispanic communities. We say Spanish, especially from Latin America, is very musical. We do not want the student to speak our language but also to feel our culture.

When we dance, we feel the rhythm, the color, the warmth of the Latin culture while understanding the songs.

The creation, interpretation and dramatic representation bring with it a number of benefits both for those who practice it experimentally and are native speakers, and those who do it to strengthen the best acquisition of a foreign language. The benefits in the second case are even more. Stage fright is worked on when using the learning language; Speech features such as volume, rhythm, intonation, articulation are promoted; gestures are practiced; you learn about cultural thought and representation; role and shift changes are rehearsed, and more.
